software for viewing and editing engineering plans?

One of my clients (Heating & Cooling business) is asking about pricing for software that they
can edit engineering plans.

The only thing that comes to mind is AutoCAD. Is there anything else that is recommended?

Are they wanting to edit previously created plans or create and edit their own? If it's existing and in the dwg format, Autodesk provides some free viewers / editors. This would depend on what level of editing they would need to do but worth checking into.

I've used SolidWorks eDrawings viewer many time. OS X and M$.

I've got a few design folks that use this. Has a lot of bang for the buck if it just for internal use. If they are pushing drawings out to others they will need to do their home work since much of the design world is stuck on Autocad.

What ever the drafter uses. Unless they know drafting they aren't going to be able to do much I would think.
