Skype screen clipping

Hey Guys!!

Currently at our small organization we use Skype to communicate inter-office. We also have some web developers overseas who we communicate with on a daily basis using this software.

We have always used MSN messenger, mainly for the 'Share Screen Clipping' feature that it has. Now with messenger on its way out, Skype is the replacement, and it is missing this feature. As crazy as it sounds this feature is a lifesaver for us and really helps augment our conversation and ideas with our foreign developers with some images that transcend the language barrier.

Hoping somebody has a quick and easy way that we could either add this feature to Skype, using an app if required, download another program that can share screen clippings quickly and easily, or migrate to a different IM program entirely. Currently Yahoo messenger is the prime candidate, but ideally I would like to stay with Skype.

Thoughts suggestions, let me know!! I appreciate any ideas anybody has.

Im assuming you want to send a screen shot or just a window shot to the other party over the net for collaboration.

Couldnt you just hit your printscreen button on the keyboard and save to file? Then send it to them via skype?

Its a bit more involving but thats how I would do it.

Hey coffee thanks for the reply!!

It is just kind of a pain in the butt to do, only because there are so many small screen clippings that we need to send, and with MSN we could share a screen clipping with a couple clicks, and it would allow us to simultaneously view the clipping beside the chat window without actually having to save a file.

We share such a high volume of these tiny screen clippings that saving it then sending it is a pain for sure. Sharing the full screen is unacceptable as well, it has to be a clipping, so for instance we could take a small clipping of a menu or other section of a website, and can both simultaneously view it.

It is such a trivial feature really, but in hindsight we have grown extremely reliant on it for collaboration purposes. I can't find any information on weather or not Lync has this feature, but this is something that we are interested in setting up even for this feature alone (if it exists).

You can use the snipping tool in Windows. When you crop your selection it automatically copies it to the Windows clipboard then just paste it into your Skype chat box. I bet coffees suggestion would work also but instead of saving the printscreen to file paste it in the chat box. The snipping tool just gives you a little better control over your selection.

Wow thanks guys for the replies.

Some excellent ideas, I will give them a try later today and let you guys know what works!!

Is screen sharing be an alternative? As we know in skype we can share your live screen which avoid you from taking screenshot to send.
