What do you think? Does it all "work"? What am i missing? Give comments, thoughts, concerns on each

Business Cards: Happy With

Brochures: Concerned that the inside is cluttered and the front page is missing something

Site: Happy With

Logo: So So.. It's in beta

(I posted in this forum section accidentally. If someone can move it to the "Advertising, Marketing & Sales" section; that would be nice)

run the website thru a spellchecker

customer service and script shouldn't be in the same sentence

the colour of the lettering on your logo doesn't look right - white on white and odd choice for changing the colours within the wording

"run the website thru a spellchecker"
I'll ask my old english professor. We are still in contact

"customer service and script shouldn't be in the same sentence"
I never thought about that. Thanks for pointing that out. Poor choice of words on my part

"the colour of the lettering on your logo doesn't look right - white on white and odd choice for changing the colours within the wording"

"white on white?" I don't get what you mean by that.

Did you get a chance to download and look at the cards and brochures?

Honestly the logo does not look professional. The lettering is OK but uninspired. If this is just a hobby for you go with what you have. If it is serious and you hope to earn a living from it one day go back the drawing board and use the services of 48hourlogo.com. You will be money ahead.

Website:

site needs a banner. logo does not stand out against grey background

your phone number should be at top of page. every page. banner.

Dont like the "120% guarantee" idea. anything that requires that much explanation will raise eyebrows. Keep it simple.

Not a good idea to put "duration" on any repair. it sets an expectation and you will find there are jobs that will go badly and take longer. The timeframes you are providing are very narrow. Be wary that this will set you up to fail. If the customer asks about timeframe when they book, provide a wise estimate. Otherwise no assurances like this - especially in writing.

"The rex" sounds a bit off. (ABOUT page). How about just "Rex"?

The only other criticism I have is that your site would look a LOT better of the images and colours were better coordinated. At the moment the selection of images looks like they have all come from different sources. Some degree of uniformity would give a more professional aesthetic.

I would do something like this for the logo:

------High
Tech (logo) Rex

Also I think your logo would look better with every letter being blue.

So many people have been pointing me to that site for me to pass it up. I'm on 48hourlogo.com right now. No need for anyone to repeat what someone else said lmao. Don't need this to turn into a logo bashing thread.

I would take all the feedback you can get. Don't knock it or it will dry up.

To save others the annoyance of the download:

Thanks for that lol. But those photo sites tend to severely hurt the image quality to the point that the colors, shadows, and textures are all OFF. Mediafire was the best way to circumvent that. The gesture is appreciated though; for those on their phones and whatnot. thanks :)

Mate, its a digital image. Resize the ridiculously large images, open them in your image editor and look at them side by side with your web browser. No difference. A jpeg is a jpeg. Nothing to do with where its hosted.

BTW, you're welcome :)

Maybe you should find it more revealing than amusing.

Gotcha, its a little of both. Well, I'm working on it. Well "they" are working on it. If i've gotten this right, my concept is run through a large group of designers and they all get to work on it. I get all the copies and drafts and I select the one that I like and the "winner" gets the payment?

I put THIS as the description for the 48hourlogo designers..
This is my old logo. As you can see it looks very cartoony, unprofessional, and there is no synergy between the text and the dinosaur. I would like you to make it WAY less cartoony, yet still slightly quirky; and give him a friendly yet focused expression. Also make it more professional, sophisticated, and synergize the text and the graphic so the logo works as "one" Make it more "technology" related.

Also: i'd like the t-rex to keep his glasses
Also: make the texture and colors of the logo "work" with my page.
Also: The letters "T" and "Rex" should still be emphacized.

Page is here: www.hightechrex.com

Now with that out of the way; what do you think about the brochures and cards? Thoughts, comments, concerns?

Definitely put some more thought into how are you plan on incorporating your marketing, logo, and design. At this point it's almost as if you have presented us with a finished polished product, and it isn't. You repeatedly defended your logo in multiple posts and with this discussion you basically all out dumped it, and by your description it almost seems as if you either 1.) never really liked your logo or 2.) you are too stubborn to realize that there are a lot of people here with a lot more experience than both you and me combined, and their opinions should be taken seriously.

I think it is definitely a step in the right direction going with 48hrlogo to redesign your logo. Personally, I cant take that logo seriously. Spend a lot of time on this phase of your business because once you get busy, you probably wont have the time to go back and redo work you could have done, and polished in the first place. This all seems very very thrown together. Gather all of your thoughts and put them on paper, or on a large knowledge whiteboard like i do myself, and carefully put all of this back together.

Best of luck to you, hope I didn't sound too harsh.

TCG

edit: I am about to have my logo designed by them as well. My current avatar was the result of me fooling around in photoshop for a few hours but it was never printed as a logo.

I have realized after my mistakes with logos that they are like an ugly/rotten child. You feel an attachment to something you or a friend made, but others see them for the abominations they really are.

lmaoo, love the analogy. Yeah, i guess it was something like that. I got a little attached; now its time for something more professional. But yeah, your original logo was pretty bad lol

It never fails to fascinate me on here how some people ask for critiques and get screeds of really good input on their website/logo/brochure/business card, and then.... do absolutely nothing to change it, or just pick out a few aspects they 'think' would improve it.

I really find this incredibly interesting. You dont have to lok far to find heaps of threads where its been total consensus of the community saying "your logo sucks" only to find 6 or 12 months down the track, the member is still running with advertising copy that would scre more people off than it would attract.

I guess what Im saying is, you're not alone in getting 'stuck' on a particular concept - its probably more common than not. The difference is that you are actually listening to what people are telling you and doing something about it.

Don't really see a lot of comments on the brochures. I did 1,000 brochures for my business last year for about $200, seemed cheap. No body reads them or cares about them, save your money.

If you're going to do an ad blitz it's better to get a cheap color laser and print one page info sheets as you need them - you'll save money and likely be more effective.
