Should I upgrade to Win7 or stick with Vista?

I need to either change the size of the hard drive of my primary partition, which has Vista64 Business installed, or re-install on a new HD.

I just bought a TechNet subscription so now I have some more toys to play with. I can just install any version of Windows 7 I like (64 bit, maybe Ultimate or Business)

Should I go with the new install of Windows 7 or stick with Vista? I'm pretty happy with Vista except for the install size of 23GB (with no Shadow Recovery).

For those who have switched to Windows 7, do you think it was worth it?

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!

(it has a few extra features useful to techs... can't think of them at the time though:D)

I won't bore you with how I think Windows 7 runs smoother than Vista (big time). It just... feels so good going from Vista to Windows 7!

Just make sure you current hardware and programs all work with Windows 7. (Even though enough time on the internet will almost make anything work with Windows 7, it can be a headache at times)

+1

YES YES YES, Why haven't you upgraded yet??? 7 Beats Vista Hands Down Anyday of the Week....

YES.

Its a fantastic OS. Everything its cranked up to be.

Really a worthwhile upgrade. Highly recommend it :)

The way I see it more and more customers will be either switching to W7 or buying computers with W7 installed so you may as well upgrade now. There's no better way to learn to support an OS than to play with it and if you don't do it then it may be become a chore for you to support W7. I switched a while back and I like it; I never had any issues with Vista (on my personal machines) so I was not too eager to upgrade but W7 is just a fantastic OS. I still use Linux as my OS of choice but I find myself using W7 more and more. Go for it!

Of course!!!! If you have TechNet why haven't you tried Windows 7???? I never had many issues with Vista but Win 7 is way better...

I just got TechNet about 4 -5 days ago. I have been running it in a virtual machine but it isn't running like it "should", which I am sure it will as a non VM.

To everyone else, thanks for the responses! I will be upgrading and doing it as I would when I do an upgrade for a client. It should be good practice. I'm looking forward to seeing it make a solo run!

I have made the switch over from vista. I am happy so far I must say my biggest distraction is having my wallpaper cycle every 5 mins :P

Windows 7 on multiple accounts!!! Something new to try, I LOVE IT!!!, Practice to use when you get customers coming in with PC issues with Windows 7...

I learn the best by screwing it up myself first!!!!
