I know very little about websites and seo. I own my main domain www.hobit.co.uk which is my main website. I also own several other domains which are more geared to my home town. My question is about getting something out of these other domains without creating a full website for each. I could re-direct the domains to my main website but there is no seo in that if I don't create a website. Maybe I should create a one page site for each domain with a link to my main website? I'm looking for any help you can give me. :)

1. Do the other domains have any page rank yet? If so how much.

2. Are any of the domains really good domain names with a keyword in them that you want to aim for?

If the answer to both questions was No then my advice is don't even bother. I mean don't get me wrong it can help but thats full blown white hat and it just can't compete with others that go gray/black....(well thats not 100% true, if those extra sites of yours get big enough then you may be able to compete).

ok I have several domains besides my Hobit one. I live in a town called Leighton Buzzard with a population of about 38000. Most of my work is outside this area in the villages but I think I will try and target the main town but there a very established computer repair companies that have been around for years. I'm thinking of creating another website(s) in addition to the one I have with new content. These are the domains I own that I have never used:

computerrepairsleightonbuzzard.com
computerrepairsleightonbuzzard.net
hobitcomputerservices.co.uk
laptoprepairsleightonbuzzard.co.uk
laptoprepairsleightonbuzzard.com
leightonbuzzardcomputers.com

Which one or two do you think I should use?

hobitcomputerservices.co.uk

At the very least, I'd have a blog setup.

In the blogs, I'd also have links to various services that you provide back to your main website as it is appropriate.

I.E "So that's how you can uninstall this program. Of course... if you need help you can go HERE to blah blah blah"

Personally, I'm in the middle of a complete website overhaul and I'm getting my new SEO guy to handle all of that, but that was one of the suggestions he made.

one or two? id do computerrepairsleightonbuzzard.com & laptoprepairsleightonbuzzard.com

I would probably do computerrepairsleightonbuzzard.com like an entire mirror site but without duplicate content, add a blog, etc.

You mean a duplicate laptoprepairsleightonbuzzard.com or www.hobit.co.uk? So the images and setup the same but the text unique?

i mean like serve the same purpose as hobit.co.uk id make it as unique as possible.

edit: you know im not sure...computerrepairS with an S is probably going to put most of its weight to computerrepairs over computerrepair but worth a shot.

There is hardly any competition in your area, so ranking on Google should be a doddle. Just make sure the meta title, description, h1 and content includes all of the key phrases.

E.g. the title should be "Leighton Buzzard Computer Repair - PC and Laptop Repairs" as opposed to "HOBIT Computer and Laptop Repairs For Leighton Buzzard". Prioritise the words in order of importance and what people are likely to search for. Your meta description doesn't even mention your home town and your keyword density/relevancy is very low. Luckily most of your competitors have also failed to optimise their websites, so this should be a priority for you in my opinion.

This is probably the best link to read about SEO - http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-ranking-factors.htm. I have no doubt your site will rank highly for your area with the current domain name and a bit of on page tweaking.

filtering

Don't use a lot of domains to point to yours. That's called "filtering" and is a blacklist-able offense on Google and Bing. Just make one site with amazing content and it will rank. Reciprocal linking has long been buffered from algorithms because people would do exactly what you're talking about. DON'T DO IT!

Yes, be careful of multiple domain pointing to your money site. You will get penalize for this.

But if you need multiple domain, it can be done. On Google Webmaster tool, there is an option were you specify duplicate domain. Sometimes, you need two domain names. I do my SEO on snccomputerrepair.com but since it's too long, there's a high possibility the customer will type something wrong. So I created a short version snc-llc.com. It also looks better for email. name@snc-llc.com compare to name@snccomputerrepair.com
