Seagate not winning any friends

Just got a Lenovo desktop in. It has a Seagate hard drive, ST1000DM003, dated 26 March 2015. It goes whirrrrr..... click! ..... whirrrrr.......click! They sure don't make 'em like they used to...
Note sure if that one has a 1 year or 2 year warranty.
1 year warranty, it is past it's useful life.
2 year warranty, they will gladly send you a refurbished drive that may get you another couple a months - minus your data......LOL
What a joke...............go SSD.

I remember @lcoughey posting something about these drives a while ago.

I found his post: https://www.technibble.com/forums/threads/seagate-hard-drives-with-dm-in-the-model-name.60350/
yes, i remember reading that. at least with the wd blues you can usually get a couple of years out of them. this customer got 14 months out of his brand new computer and as Luke said, it was all over in the blink of an eye, no time to do any kind of data recovery. It's a good thing I set him up with a daily backup a couple of months ago.
