Hey new to the forum so try to go easy on me. :D
(Windows XP)
I'm having some trouble with rundll32.exe
every time i restart/startup my computer, i get an error message that says,

rundll32.exe - application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000005). click ok to terminate the application.

if i click ok, another one pops up right away and keeps poping up over and over when ever i try to open internet options, and many other things in control panel.

I'm thinking it could be trojans, because i have been infected by ALOT of them and cant get rid of them, but my virus protection has them quarintined (symantec virus protection)

and i do use spyware removal systems.

i have no idea what to do and i have done quite a few google searches but it seems like no one else has had this problem before.

PLZ help! :/

thanks in advance.

rundll32.exe isn't a "real" program. It basically acts as a host for files that end in .dll Either your rundll32.exe file is corrupt. Or, it's trying to open a .dll file that is. Or... it's leftover from a malware/virus infection and still trying to run.

First thing I'd do is install hijackthis. You can have the log analyzed at hijackthis.de or if you can post it here, someone may take pity on you and check it out.

this is what it gave me.
sorry about this being so lame, i just dont feel like spending my hard earned money on something someone could be nice enough to help me fix.

You do not have to pay for www.hijackthis.de. It is free to analyze. Copy everything produced from the log, go to hijackthis.de and paste it into their box and click submit. It will show you whats good and bad. I did it and there are a few things you might want to look at.

Thanks man.
it found a couple of things that would help me out, but i ran into another problem which is what i think is why i keep getting my error.

but everytime i try to delete it it says that the disk space may be full, or is copyright protected.
i was going to try and uninstall it from the program files, but i cant open the window due to my Rundll32.exe thing not working.

yeah i was but either way spending is uncool in this situation.
if i wanted to spend money id just get a new computer.

My apologies, I misunderstood. Not trying to be asinine here but stating what you did above probably isn't going to get you a whole lot of help around here.

Anyway, try to delete the file in safe mode.

oh sorry man i didnt mean it that way, my computer is super old, but im happy with it.
and im sure you've had your bad exp. with computers too, so you could understand how aggravated i am right now with it not working properly.

i tried safe mode but everytime i try to open the control pannel anyway it still pops up with the same error that i put in the first post i did.
