Hello all,

I recently became a reseller for a large hardware manufacturer - However, as part of the agreement I have to go through a licensed distributor. Here are my choices:

Ingram Micro
Synnex Corp
TechData

Does anyone have any experience with the above companies and if so who would you recommend?

Thanks, everyone! I ended up going with Ingram Micro - I had to jump through the least hoops to become a client. I can't believe how difficult they make it (at least here in Canada) - they won't even talk to you on the phone unless you are a registered client.

Becoming a reseller for Dell was SO much easier, I got spoiled, I guess.

I know you have already chosen, but I thought I would post anyway since other people are going to read this thread. I am constantly ordering from Tech Data, and overall I would give them an 8/10. What was the process that Tech Data and Ingram Micro wanted you to do to get set up? I did not set up our account, so I am curious. Also, Did you get terms?
 
It's funny, I originally, in error, called the US Synnex office and they were fantastic. Awesome, customer service and they didn't charge a fee. Then they referred me to the Canadian office....
A whole other story - they were supposed to call me, and never did. I sent them e-mails with questions and never replied. I am big on customer service, so they lost out on my business.

If I remember correctly, Tech Data was more expensive (which in the long run, doesn't much matter, really) but when I called them they referred me to the "new customer number" which, when you call it says "don't call us unless your a customer" Ok, I'm paraphrasing :) The don't take new accounts over the phone.
I went through their application and they wanted other vendor references, my bank managers phone number and a host of other things. And to be honest I was in a hurry because I have two clients that want to order products through me ASAP.

Ingram won, they responded to my application right away even when I missed a step of the application.

DandH is by far the easiest to get on with and they are cheaper than techdata.

Are they cheap enough to make it worth it to switch? Tech Data is 15 miles away and I can get things without having to pay for shipping (although for small orders, there is a fee of about $5) and get it the same day... so are the prices and DandH that much better?

D&H is the only wholesaler I've signed up with and I'm very happy.

The only thing I dislike is I have to call into their sales rep to get the lowest prices; the website ones are a bit higher and they always knock the price down when I call in.

Also, they switched from default shipper as UPS to Fedex. As much as I love Fedex, they're slower from Chicago to Detroit. UPS Ground is always NEXT business day from the D&H Chicago warehouse, but Fedex ground is only next day 50% of the time.
 
So are these places cheaper than ordering from Newegg? (I'm new to the whole reseller thing, I'm mainly looking for a good source for replacement hardware like hard drives, power supplies, ram, etc)
 
On some things, yeah. Newegg kicks butt for CPUs, RAM, hard drives, and video cards. D&H is often cheaper on big items like chassis, or on bulk items. Also, since D&H has a Chicago warehouse, ground UPS shipments get to me in 1 day. So when I need something immidiately, it's always cheaper to get it via D&H than to pay for overnight via Newegg.
