I am replacing one of this in the upcoming weeks... It has a bad Power Supply and is VERY old.

Things I had to consider was that it is operating as a Multi-Layer switch doing the routing between the site's subnet and AT&T's AVPN WAN Circuit...

More or less, I have been steering away from Cisco because they are overly expensive, have a crappy warranty, and terrible support... unless you buy SmartNET and pay a ton for access to their TAC.

What's special is that our 4500 series core switch in this building is connecting about 17 other wiring closets via 1000-BASE-SX fiber.... Hence, I need something that will do routing and has room for a LOT of fiber.

I chose a Brocade 6610 24F chassis.

If you want a good Laugh, here it is on my desk while I am doing a Firmware Upgrade on it.

It didn't have any copper ports at all other than the console port and the Management port.

You would probably get a good laugh at me using some random 48 port switch as a media converter to get a copper port via two (2) fiber modules... lol... Yeah, had to flash it through an SFP with fiber.

I added the extra fan and extra power supply, too:
