Hi, I am new to the forums so hopefully this is the right place for this
I had a job come in that is a Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop. the screen would flicker every once in a while so i pulled it apart and noticed the cable to the screen was bad at the hinge. So i took it out and ordered another cable.
I installed the new cable and right away the screen wasnt coming on or even booting. So I then plugged the video out port to an external monitor. The computer will only boot I guess when it detects a screen. So when i boot it with an external screen it comes on fine.
So i thought maybe the NEW cable was bad on arrival so I put the old cable back in.... same thing... wont boot.
I have updated my bios thinking there was a problem with bios detecting the screen but hasn't fixed it. As far as I can tell the screen is fine but I REALLY dont want to buy another screen if that is not the problem. Please please please if you have any idea what would cause a screen to not be detected by the laptop. Or how to test the screen. Its an LED screen btw and I dont really have a parts laptop with an LED to test it.
