Remove password from Mac external USB drive?

I have a Mac formatted USB drive. I know the password and can access it without issue. However, I would like to remove the password but when I try to Decrypt it from right clicking on the disk icon and entering the password it says its not encrypted.

It's been so long since I used this drive (and a Mac in general) that I don't remember if it is encrypted or its just a password or what not.

Anyone know how to remove the password?

Have you looked in System Preferences - Security & Privacy - FileVault?

That says that it is turned on for Macintosh HD, but makes no mention of the USB drive.
