I am looking at setting up a new data center to host virtual servers and desktops. I will setup a vpn with the client and provide a desktop portal device for their desktop system. I have been looking into PCoIP and it's advantages. I'm not sure it's the right fit for transmitting over WAN. Has anyone done anything like this?

What would you recommend?

Actually, PCoIP works extremely well over the WAN. There was a recent update that added support for long distance, low bandwidth environments. The longest test with 3D graphcis is over 10,000km (europe to east US) and other partners are setting up tests from North America to India.

VMware's integration of PCoIP software into their new VMware View virtual desktop products take advantage of the WAN capabilities of PCoIP technology.

Check out this video showing the performance over the WAN. I can't post the web link yet - but search youtube for PCoIP and see the "World's best 3D Graphics on WAN Networks".

Cheers, Stu
