Random Freezing in Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

I have had this random freezing issue for a year or more now, and it doesn't really bother me that much as it only happens about once a day.

I can be working away, got a couple of applications open, a few web pages, and then i'm looking around the web, and then bang it just locks, the swirly icon spins around, the computer goes into a not responding mode, but if I leave it for about a minute, it catches up and is back to normal again.

I thought a few months ago, that it only seemed to happen when using firefox, but I changed to chrome and still have the same problem. I re-installed windows as well, but still the same issue remains.

Now a customer has contacted me about this issue, and I think it's about time I asked here, to see if you have had a similar issue.

Having reinstalled windows you've essentially diagnosed that it is a hardware problem, not software. I'd suggest starting by doing some hardware diagnostics.

I was going to say the same thing. I had a similar issue a few months ago, turned out to be a hard drive that was dying.

Check your hard drive - I'd suspect a delayed or bad sector.
