Quick blog article from the guy that started Ubiquiti

Had no idea he was an Apple alumni. I always wondered why their products had all of the slick, white plastic forms. Explains a lot.

Yeah same here....over the years I've noticed that some of their devices have that...different approach to design, cool gizmo features, and some of them ship in really nice packages. Boxes that are made of higher quality cardboard, inner packaging with nice liners.

Around a year or so ago I found out he was one of the original engineers of Apples newly developed wireless team...and it all clicked with an "Ah-Ha" moment!

I think his point is more about how much the technology and industry has changed rather than Apple, or anyone else for that matter, being first or better. And how successful they have been as a technology company. Wish I had bought some stock during the IPO.

When I received my Amplifi I was struck but how Apple'ish everything was, including the packaging.

So how was the Linksys WRT54G released in December 2002?

Apple always waits until new technology proves itself before entering the market with it. That being said I'm not surprised the airport wasn't released until 2003.

So you were thrilled with the clean package design? ;p

I think Pera is a smart man, following in the footsteps of Apple. There's a reason why they are so successful, so taking those little details of nice packaging, clean good-looking designs that look they they belong where they are placed are small modifications compared to how professional and detail conscious it presents themselves as.

On another note I always like reading about the thoughts of the people who are heavily involved in it. It makes it really interesting, even though this seemed like just a little promo for residential router.
