Question About Geekatoo

did it like a month ago... took a day to get validated. So far nothing in my area even worth bidding on. Lots of cheap workers on it. Hopefully it will catch on.

Don't hold your breath. No matter what 3rd party platform I've been on or heard about, there's always someone in your area that will undercut you on price. That creates a mentality in buyers over time that they will just offer less because someone will always scoop it up. It got to the point where the emails coming in offering jobs then another email coming in right after it saying it's not available becomes really annoying and makes you want to quit. "Can you drive 1.5 hours one way to do an hour install job for a flat rate of $65?" Someone will gobble it up. "Can you do this install that's scheduled while the hurricane is going to be in your area?" Gone. It's mind blowing.

Yea this was the case for me on places like onforce.com. But for some reason, recently people are not picking up the jobs in this area. I have been doing laptop keyboard replacements for HP warranty jobs for between $100 - $150. I don't even charge my customers that much. The jobs go out at $50. No one picks them up so I put a bid on it at $150. If they don't bite I put in a Bid for $125. and then $100. If they still don't bite, I wait a day and then start at $150 again. I can't believe this has worked but I have done about 10 of these in the last 3 weeks.
I don't know if OnForce is loosing their techs or if the techs are just tired of doing jobs for little to no money.

I just had a call today from a guy that said, "Ok, I'm willing to pay $50 for you to remove my viruses and you will need to come to my house"

Me.

Sorry sir, our removals are $99 and that is not for a home visit.

Him. "That's all I am going to pay"

Me. "Ok, good luck and thanks for calling"

Dont budge on your prices much unless it's for a referral that is on financial crunch or for a very good current customer that is having a tough time.

Otherwise, you will degrade your business image to the level of those serving your area for pennies on a normal repair buck.
