I did this and it appeared I got OK results. But then after a month or so, Google dropped pretty much all of those links from Webmaster tools indicating they no longer are counting them for my site.
You mean you did this as in what I have suggested?
If so, then you didn't submit your software and press release to those 5000 + shareware sites, direcoties and press release sites.
Type your company name in Google and hit enter.
If you get more than 10,000 results that point back to your website, then you are on your way.
If not, then you didn't do it right.
Edit:
OK, I typed "bracknell computer repair" in www.google.co.uk and got 12,100 results.
You are on your way. If your page ranking dropped, then you have a very badly SEO optimized website.
I have noticed also that your index.html page is called "bracknell-computer-repair.html".... hmmm that's a curious one. What was the reason you didn't leave it as index.html?
To confuse the indexers and search engines?
Correction:
I typed "bracknell computer repair" but without quotes, so with quotes you only get 3560 results, which is not too bad (bad enough though for all the work you've done). I bet you didn't pay for a decent shareware submitting software.
