Been there...done that! Heh...just ribbin ya!

Time to sign off for the night and go read. Wife got done reading "50 Shades of Grey" and is onto the 2nd book of that trilogy..wants me to read them after her, so I'm starting the first book.

Those married guys that haven't heard of the book..Google it. Jeeeze it puts the wives sex drive through the roof!

Not that I'm complaining!

...and then catch up on sleep..tired from 2x back to back nights of juggling around a VMWare farm...re-provisioning LUNs, etc.

No freaking kidding dude....its like they are crazed animals man. I'm not complaing either, but we all know whats going to happen when they are done with the book...

I keep telling her.. "Babe....pace yourself"

The couches are more for sitting and talking to customers about their needs etc when buying a new machine.
Also get quite a few visits from our suppliers so need somewhere to sit.

We also wanted to be totally different to the other computers stores in town so we don't really have any pcs or laptops on display. We have a few things next to the front desk like USB drives, inks, mice and stuff like that.

It is a nice shop. I am a bit surprised that you are still using CTR monitors .. . .

We used the old monitors when we 1st opened but have recently had another revamp. Now using LCD. We have got rid of all the old CRT and CTR

I quite like the "homey" feel to your shop. Every time someone is spending money to fix something, it's better to make them feel as comfortable as possible!

That's a heck of a lot of counter space, do you really get that many people in at once for that much ? How many people do you have working the floor during the day ?

I have steered away from KVM switches myself. With KVM switches, its so easy to forget about a computer that you are working on, which cuts down on productivity. Besides LCD monitors and other peripherals like keyboards and mice are pretty cheap and easy to come by now. That's my take on it anyways.

We use multiple monitors in our workshop as well. 5 to be exact.
I've tried the KVM setup in the past and didn't like it but can't remember why.
You still need bench space to have a computer open, and in bits if testing, so why not just have the a monitor, keyboard & mouse right there to connect to?
There are two tech's as well so we can work independantly.

We have run out of bench space so may look at KVMs again in the future if we need more space.

In our first shop (and even our second before we expanded) we ran out of bench space as well. That was the reason why we went the KVM switch route. Now that we have expanded a couple times, we have a lot more room for monitors, keyboards and mice. Also, keep in mind that you can mount most monitors and that you can mount a small rack above your benches for keyboards and mice for when your not using them.
