Permissions in Win 7 & update

Received a call from a client today; They are attempting to perform a Windows update on a new Gateway they just received.

Even though they are logged in under the main administrator acct., they are getting a permissions denied error when attempting the Win update.

I don't believe I've ever had Win update lock me out like this. I was thinking of turning off UAC for starters -

Any ideas?

Well you know me -- D7 repair permissions then fix windows update. If that doesn't fix it then I start investigating

EDIT: also if that doesn't fix it and you find something that does, detail the process to me

Good point BM... though it may have been a Win7 thing but I saw recently MS windows/microsoft update is getting smarter and though it still won't work with incorrect time settings - it now appears that it tells you to correct the time when that particular error occurs.
