PC Repair Tracker

I seen this software and was in awe.....its very awesome and was all excited to purchase it, but I have never worked on,more or less built a server so I probably need to find somthing more windows friendly :(

I installed this on to my web hosting without a problem. Also means I can access it when I am out and about.

I really want to alleviate any (monthly costs). So my question is...If I want to create my own server to run this software, exactly what should I shoot for? And if I create my own server will I still need web hosting or would the server be the host I would need?

I initially built a server to host this on. I was using a Windows based server, which is not supported by the developer. It ran fine until an upgrade came through which didn't work correctly. At that point I built a Linux server and ran it there for a while. Ultimately, though, I decided it was easier to host it remotely in the same space I had setup for my website. It's been running great ever since.

You don't have to build a server. PCRT will work best on your hosts server, I have mine setup in the same folder as my hosted website. Your host will have the necessary back end tools, software to run PCRT correctly. It is just a matter of following the instructions in the package that luke sends you, very clear and straight forward.

Anybody have a reliable link for PCRT? I have been trying the email listed and I keep getting the error -

"The address "info at pcrepairtracker.com" in the "To" field was not recognized. Please make sure that all addresses are properly formed."

If you really want to alleviate your costs, the best thing to do is to host it on the same server you host your website on, which costs you nothing more than what you are already paying now. If you don't have a website, I'd recommend purchasing a domain through a company that offers a free hosting account (Godaddy used to do this) with the purchase of a domain, which you can use for PCRT. Either way you go, using your own server adds more cost to running PCRT verses purchasing a domain and using a paid for hosting solution, plus it decreases the availability of PCRT in the event you shut your server down after business hours.

something i could not find, does it automatically send updates to the customer when you update the ticket?

if a customer replies to a ticket, does it update the assigned tech and the manager?

Would anyone be up for helping me get this set up? I'm using hostgator and have reached out to the creator but his response didn't fix the problem. Send me a PM if you would like to help me out. I'm EST and would prefer late evening. Thanks!

You should not have any issue whatsoever getting PCRT to work with HG

What, specifically, is the problem?

It just won't connect to the database, that's the error I'm getting. The creator is going to look into it more today, ill be sure to post here what he says in case it could help someone else out.

So if it cant connect to the database then your configuration is wrong... there are 2 files that need to be changed. Also HG has been known to throw up a 500 error, if that happens then you should contact them and them them u need a modsec rule white listed.

Yeah I changed those files, I went through the text document that was included but something just isn't adding up. I'm actually thinking its something with hostgator. His instructions were pretty cut and dry but it didn't go through correctly.

Well I have been using PCRT with HG for 3 years without any problems. I very much doubt its a hosting issue.
