Just looking for suggestions on any password revealer/recovery software for Windows login password, Outlook, Messenger services, common apps, etc. What would really be nice is software that can print out saved passwords from Internet Explorer as well.

I'm putting together a flash drive with all my 911 apps.

Thanks gang!
Shaun

First I find a program that I like and if its not already portable, I make it so. Next I install a program called pstart on my flash drive. I then put the programs in folders and name them as i like. Using the pstart software you can then link items in those folders into a nice little start menu that comes up when you click the pstart icon on your drive. I think on this kit I have maybe 200-250 programs. Id say about 80% of apps can be made portable.

I bought that exact flash drive on tigerdirect while it was on sale this past weekend, i was disappointed by the amount of apps they had out for the U3 technology thing though, maybe you can share this with us one day ;) :D i'll probably read up on converting apps to portable apps this weekend.

In my opinion U3 sucks. You are very limitied as to the apps you can use and you cannot run it without admin privileges so its useless on school computers. The first thing I do when I get a new flash drive that comes with it is run the removal tool they have on the u3 site. You can get pstart here: http://www.pegtop.net/start/ search the net and you will find hundreds of portable apps.

Good stuff Gunslinger. I agree U3 does suck, and I don't even touch it. I'm definitely going to check this out.

Glad to help. You might also want to install portable firefox on you drive as well. Mine has all my needed bookmarks like driverguide and Dll files .com, Dell drivers home page , ect. this has saved me a few times.

I have a good portable setup on my 16gb flash. It starts with the Portable Apps suite from http://portableapps.com/ . I then add in a ton of other tools (just like gunslinger.) Portableapps.com is a good place to start for anyone wanting to do this.

Winternals used to make good software, its now owned by Microsoft, and you know what that means. They have basicly taken out all of the good programs from the admin pak and made it were your system has to pass the WGA (mark of the beast?) check. If you can find it Winternals ERD Commander is my personal fave.

Gunslinger,

What do you use to make apps portable? I'm currently testing Thinstall within a virtual pc setup. I'm running into a few probs, but I think I'll get it right by the weekend.

Probably just newb problems, I've had the software for about 2 weeks. The co. that I work for wants me to test it to see if we can make some of our apps portable for the workforce. I need to overcome what my wife calls "man-itis" and "read the instructions".

But since I now know a Thinstall expert, the next time I run into a specific problem, I'll make sure to post a thread and ask some questions. ;)
