Outlook sync with iPhone

I have a client that needs Outlook to sync with his iPhone. I had this working fine with the previous CRM software he was using. Had I cloud sync the phone to Outlook then the old CRM software sync to iCloand ud. Now he has changed CRM software and the new software only supports sync to the default email contact and calendar. This means I can no longer use iCloud to sync the phone. Does anyone know another solution that works well and is preferably free?

Have you tried the newest Outlook app for the iPhone? I have a client who uses Outlook.com, but on his desktop uses the Outlook program, not the website. We have tried and tried to get a sync going, but were unsuccessful until the newest Outlook App came out two weeks ago. He is syncing seamlessly between his iPhone and Desktop now, but it IS going through outlook.com, as that is his address.
