I have come across this problem once or twice where you have a dying cmos battery fairly streightforward yes most of the time just change it out, well not for me on two pc's replaced battery booted up set time and date and year shut down disconnected power rebooted after 5 10 minutes and still not holding time or date in taskbar.It baffled me for a bit so in between the troubleshooting i then decided to take out the new cmos battery and wipe it clean of any filament and reseated it on motherboard booted back up set time and date etc. shut it down disconnected power left for 5 10 minutes rebooted and all was ok.
just in case ye might run in to this problem worth trying first if new battery is replaced.
