OEM HD's (specifically Western Digital)

Another question I have is why you are ordering components for your clients through Newegg rather than through a real parts supplier?

Whats wrong with newegg?

I've used them for years and years, and have often gotten the best prices on quality hardware from them.

I suppose you "might" be able to beat newegg if you have a relationship established with some vendor (that many of us do not know about) and have done a lot of volume with them in the past....

If you use the insider deals and the sales right, you can often beat or match just about any price on newegg.

I've almost never had a problem with anything from newegg, I think I had to advance replace two items in almost $10,000 worth of parts over the last ten years.

I've never ordered from Newegg, but if you have no way of knowing whether or not the product you are purchasing is new or used, then there are issues. I've never used Newegg, so I am only judging based on this thread.

Oh....

Hmm well the original drive that ended up being used came from some random company through amazon (not saying you didn't know that). Again I've done a relatively small volume through newegg compared to how much inventory some of you guys move but I've never had packing be an issue either.

I have a 320GB WD blue that I used in my first custom build in the spring of 2006. That PC ran without issues until IIRC July of 2010 (it actually was, I just looked up my order history). 4 years of pretty high usage is what I'd like to call pretty damn good out of a drive like that. I wondered if I reused that drive in the i7 build that I replaced the first computer with in 2010 and no I did not. But I did order another 640GB WD Blue that has been running like a champ for 3 years now!

Of course, I could be the exception here.
