I just installed a Unifi USG directly connected to FiOS (no other router). Everything is working fine except when I try to connect to the VPN I configure I get the following error:

"The connection was prevented because of a policy configured on your RAS/VPN server. Specifically, the authentication method used by the server to verify your username and password may not match the authentication method configured in your connection profile. Please contact the Administrator of the RAS server and notify them of this error.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Seems there might be a Windows 10 issue and I tried the fix someone suggested when I googled it (adding a registry key) but it made no difference.

Thanks!

What method are you using? PPTP or L2TP? Should never use PPTP. No authentication. As far as I can tell the USG only does RADIUS authentication, no IPSEC, for L2TP. Just started working on mine to replace my ERL. Everything's done but VPN.

So, I followed the instructions Stonecat linked, and now I get an error The connection was terminated because the remote computer did not respond in a timely manner.

I set it up as L2TP
