New to SEO

I was looking at Keyword planner and in order to use it I need a Google Adword account
I started to do this but I didn’t want to give them my credit card info
Must I do this to use the new Keyword Planner?

I just want to research some keywords

look at google search trends. Also Lisa (CallThatGirl) has an excellent podcast she just came out with where she talks about her SEO. Implementing her SEO strategy has been my order of the day.

On another note, I just got my laptop back
2 years ago I installed win8 on a high end Dell laptop to learn win8
Finally I nuked it and installed win7 now it’s a computer I want to use
Instead of a torment with win8 that I always hated using

Win8 just needs some getting use to, and some tweaking on your part and its not much different the Win7.

Lol I did the same thing with what is now my work laptop. Tried windows 8 got tired of it and put back Windows 7. Breath of fresh air again.

Just listened to the podnutz last night on the drive home and starting to work on SEO for my primary business site which is NOT computer repair so we will see how it goes.

Key to this working? Keep on blogging, any topic is ok, then tag those "computer repair Rochester MN" in those blogs. (insert your tags of course)

Then, start your blogs with "As you know, our computer repair store in Rochester, MN tells all of our clients that backing up your data is critical, even for your home computer"

Or, "when clients come in our computer repair store in Rochester MN with a virus removal, we often tell them that our antivirus protection plan is better because...."

then be sure to give that the H1, it's an option in Wordpress.

Blog the crap out of everything! lol If you can whip out a blog everyday, you will get faster results.

Google sometimes can give a page 1 on the spot (one of my clients asked me to help her, "waxing eagan mn" and she got on page 1 instantly, no competition. Sometimes takes consistency and a few weeks. I was paid to do this for clients, and I got them on page 2, then told them to keep going, but I don't think they did.

Good marketing results takes consistency, no matter what venue, including Google.

and btw...if you want to, keep a spreadsheet with your rankings.

So after a few days, you will check and see maybe you were on page 4, now page 2.

Keep tweeking the tags until it gets better (add some more, blog more to help the originals, etc). I'm watching "microsoft exchange training' and I am competing in a freaking humongous circle and I just got on page 5, it's exciting believe it or not.

welp update I am now on page 2 with a blog post from last week for on of my keywords and page 1 on another event post that was from mid June.

Going to keep at it

auction mytown st as my page title, then I have the keywords again in the 1st line on the post. then I go crazy with tags

check out this from my analytics....58 clicks in a week. Tagged with my zip code, forgot about the zip code nugget. I used my zip when I had stores.

tags tags tags!! SEO is starting to work for us!! now on page 1 in 3 of the 5 keyword focus, heck 1 keyword focus I have 2 spots!!

I have been going back as well and cleaning up my past events and that seems to be helping as well

what is even SWEETER than seeing your own results (you are not logged into gmail/google right?)

....is when you get your first call in.

My client in NYC that I helped last spring finally got her first call in. Mind you, I helped her for 4 hours learn what I told you all in 10 minutes on the podcast. She wanted hands on learning with blogging. But she dropped the ball after our training, but got the first call in (from just the 4 hours I helped) and now of course, wants to blog more.

It does work, takes a bit of time and consistency.
