Ok so I am new to Linux. I want to dual boot my xp pro machine with a good version of linux but I have never messed with linux before. Not completely positive of the specs of the computer because I'm not on it nw but it's got a gig of ram and 160gb hd for the main drive and three 500gb drives I use for backing up data. Any suggestions would be great on what to do from here. TIA.

I run mepis as my daily OS - haven't used windows for several years on my desktop machine

I use helix, ossim, backtrack, trinity rescue and others pretty much daily in my biz - linux is a must nowadays. Over half my customers have linux somewhere in their network and I sell a few SME servers a month lately

Newbie

Do not dual boot

Just install in a VM or install Wubi from inside windows

if you do dual it can be a pain to undo

Thanks, I downloaded ubuntu 2.0 ultimate gaming edition and mandrive one. I'll play with them a while. For the record I'm a noob to linux not compters. I am capable of deleting a partition.

Hi! I'm not a computer savvy. But by using VM to my XP system to install a UBUNTU linux distro was so easy. I just followed the instruction. And here it goes I have a linux distro inside my XP system.
