I am looking for some suggestions on a problem that I am working on.
Just changed out motherboard, CPU, and memory on system
Foxconn M61PMV with AMD Athlon X2 5200 processor 2 GB RAM
Windows XP pro SP3
Using existing Hard Drive
Windows startup stalls then BSOD
BSOD code: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0xBA948756, 0xBACC342C, 0xBACC3128)
No specific info on this code. I have googled this and it appears this code could be caused by any number of things.
Will boot OK in safe mode.
Have attempted other known good Hard Drives and get same error BSOD code.
My thoughts are the Motherboard / BIOS settings.
I am going through mental pause on this one. Someone please slap me with a reality check and help me focus on finding a solution.
Thanks
:)

Could you provide some history such as symptoms before swapping motherboard, CPU, and memory on system? Are all parts exact replacements/specs for originals?

On a new mobo with an old drive its usually chipset or drivers. I would look into that. What was the last chipset?. Is it the same manufacturer as this new one?.

@ anonymous Mac Tech & NYJimbo
The original set up was causing the PC to stop and shut down randomly.
I checked the CPU cooling which needed cleaning.
The Power Supply Cooling fan was frozen.
I replaced the power supply and still had same problem with shut down.
I removed cleaned and replaced CPU cooling fan, same shutdown problem
That is when I decided to replace the motherboard, CPU, and memory.
Note system would shut down even without HD, or DVD drive connected.
I did get a glance at the BIOS for a fraction of a second once prior to shutdown and it showed a CPU and Motherboard temp close to 200 degrees F.
The old MB was a ASUS P5VDC-MX with Intel Pent processor. Parts are not exact replacements.
Basically I am using a completely new MB, CPU with the old hard drive.

Did you do a reformat after changing the motherboard? If not, NYJimbo is right, it's a chipset issue. The chipset of your old motherboard is different than the one you use right now.

You can try to uninstall driver/hardware devices in the device manager that is connected/has a relation to the motherboard and do a restart.

No, I did not do a reformat nor do I want to. I did do a complete backup just in case, but do not want to go there unless I have to. I have started disabling the device drivers and I think you are right about that being the place to start.
Thanks

I did do a nuke and pave on the hard drive. I was trying to avoid this but all attempts to restore the drive failed. In my attempt to retain the original set up, nothing that I tried worked. Thanks for the advise and suggestions.

It's probably only the disk controller driver that's causing the BSOD. Boot to UBCD4Win and use either FixIDE or FixHDC to remove the existing controller driver (automatic process). On the next reboot the correct controller will be installed and away you go.

Or do a repair install.

OBVIOUSLY - clone the drive before doing anything. Always CYA

Edit: Sorry, was writing this while you were posting.
