New AMD Ryzen Chip pics

Alas, I compile no kernels, but, that time-to-compile benchmark must scale really well with hyperthreading/SMT and cores, especially for there to be such a disparity between the 7600K and 7700K....137 seconds vs...101?

Folks who do actual transcoding, and true multitasking work , and, even gaming while streaming might love this Ryzen processor, for sure.....

The sub-4k gaming benchmarks, however, show the Ryzen is slower than even the 7600K in about 9 of 10 games....

The predictions of the 1800X being major power savers compared to 7700K now seem somewhat....'dated', and fading faster than most campaign promises! (In fact, 1800X based systems use about 20 watts more power under load than a Z270/7700K based rig according to folks using kill-o-watt meters....; in Ryzens defense, they only use 2 more watts at idle...) But, for darn sure, they use less power than 6900/6950 under load!

All I can say is that we are clearly not going to agree on this.
Why should we have to agree or disagree, I respect your opinion, I would like you to respect mine.
The cost saving of Intel v AMD can be petty or significant depending on environment. Your "estimates" of energy consumption may be applicable to your area, but unfortunately, here in South Australia, we have [arguably] the most expensive electricity in the world.
Home electricity prices are around 35 cents per KW and business around 28 ~33 cents per KW (depending on "Peak/ OffPeak Tarrifs) which does have an impact over a full financial year. Not to mention the extra heat generated by AMD processors and airconditioning costs to compensate for that heat. I may be "nitpicking" here but all these factors are indeed considered.
Donald Trump himself can start making CPU's,
Umm... No thanks!

I think it all boils down too:

For multi core processing the Ryzen beats intel. However, For single core processing Intel is still the fastest. So, In general I just call it a tie. That means AMD has done good this time. Of course, Some more tweeking on bios from MB manufactuers and drivers (kernel drivers for processors) will only improve the Ryzen performance.

The biggest improvement I can really think of is the amount of heat produced by AMD processors. Looks like they have that licked :)

I agree to disagree :)

@Barcelona

You make some very good points. We do not have to agree. I do respect your opinion as well.

The one thing I did lose track of is that your in South Australia. So increased energy costs will
add in.

At any rate I feel that Rzyen is a viable option. At the very least, it should get Intel to play ball
a little bit on their pricing. That's good enough for me.
