Needing to perform diagnose and repair on network connection at every boot to connect

Hello.



Firstly forgive me but although my dads pc is on vista currently I trust your knowledge and input on an issue that can really occur across multiple platforms.. Now the issue he had before was an error within chrome and IE claiming it was unable to connect to proxy server. Anyway that was solved by simply specifying in Internet properties to auto detect proxy settings.



Now the issue he gets on his desktop (via Ethernet connection) is that he is needing to repair the Internet connection for it to renew IP address and only then does he successfully connect to the Internet (before he simply gets cannot connect to webpage) until he does a diagnose and repair right clicking on the adapter in task bar.

Is this on a fresh boot? Come from Sleep? Hibernate? What kinda uptime is typical? Have you checked the router? Any other devices in the house working? Make/Model of machine? When this problem occurs, has anyone checked ipconfig for current settings (really shouldn't be any)? When this happens, has anything been done to troubleshoot it? Checked Device manager for disabling?

Some malware puts a proxy server in browsers...you don't want to use a proxy server, uncheck auto detect proxy...should just connect via LAN.

Check DNS settings..make sure they're on Auto...confirm what they are by doing an IPCONFIG /ALL, typically it's the routers LAN IP or your ISPs DNS servers...double check and confirm.
