Need something to do on weekend nights

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or knowledge of any remote jobs (not remote tech support (although I would be fine with that), just simply able to work from home) for weekend nights (Friday and Saturday's from about 5PM to 1AM Chicago time). I would prefer something in customer support/live chat support. During the weekdays, the general hubbub of clients for my business keeps me busy and my mind occupied, but weekends I get fairly lonely because (not to make a story sad) I have no friends, no wife/girlfriend, and family isn't around here. I have considered applying to be a volunteer for the national text message crisis hotline, but that doesn't pay the bills either.

Thank you,

Blake

Get involved with something with a group of people, I recommend that...versus trying some "work from home" all alone thing.
Having people in your life is important.
Being a part of the community is important, IMO
Giving Back...to people, and the community, is important, IMO

I don't know if you'd be opposed to something like helping out at soup kitchens, or...look in social media for local community groups that get together to do things for the community.

Or one of the many "young professionals" groups that pop up all over the place.

Maybe pickup a hobby, like bicycle riding, jogging, hiking, kayaking, target practice, radio controlled plane flying, something that gets you outdoors, and something that can mix you into other people. (dunno where you live or what's available in your area)

Look in local ads for "volunteers wanted"...to help out for some social services like youth centers, or van drivers for the elderly.
You can get such a good feeling being some big brother like person to little kids.
And working with the elderly...I find is fascinating talking to them, hearing and learning how things were back in the old days. And you can learn a lot in helping to reclaim good wholesome values to make you a better person.

The house next door to me, an elderly couple lives/d there. I always enjoyed talking with the old man when out doing yard work. He suddenly died about 5 weeks ago. Since then, I pop over and see if the old widow needs anything. Neighbors and I will be helping with yard work, snow removal. She has a dog, I walk it an evening or two a week. (she has kids and family nearby too so she has lots of help). But still, it's nice to go over, sit on her couch, and just give her company for a little while.

Up here the State of WI needs to supply 24/7 remote support to its workforce. They are always looking for help in the off shifts. You can check on your end of things in Illinois.

I do "volunteer" at my local senior/assisted living facilities with tech as they have few other options.

We spend our working weeks in a frantic race against deadlines and battling an ever-growing to-do list. But while the Monday-Friday haul is all about maximizing our productivity and efficiency, weekends should be a time to unwind.

Make a conscious effort to disconnect. It's very difficult to turn off during the weekend, but if you really want to re-charge, that's exactly what you have to do. And this starts with work itself. If at all possible, you should avoid pulling a "workend". If you don’t invest time for yourself or family and friends - you know, a social life? - then things will go wrong and that unhappiness feeds back into your work, making you feel less effective.
