Need a little help w/ matching correct RAM

The replacement RAM that you were looking at should work just fine. Is the machine that the RAM is going into anything specialized? Something to remember about adding/replacing RAM is that if the number of pins and the notch match then it is the same kind/type of RAM and should work. If you mix sticks of RAM that operate at different speeds, then the machine will run at the slower of the two speeds.

@ trusted, please remember that irrespective of what type of ram it is, the notches still match up. I.e sdram, notches match, DDR2, notches match.

All you really have to consider are the speeds. I.E 1gb/2700 & 1gb/3200, both will work in the machine, but the machine will run at the 2700 speed, rather than the 3200, nothing at all to do with notches.

The notch in a DDR2 SO-DIMM is not in the same place as the notch in a DDR3 SO-DIMM. This is what I meant. I understand that you are saying (that just because the notches in two sticks of RAM match up does not mean that they are of the same type) but your statement that the notches are in the same spot regardless of what type of RAM it is is not correct.
