My wife put this together on Photoshop, what do you think?

In the spirit of telling it like it is . . .

The blue marbled thing is killing it, just get rid of that concept. The font just looks dated. Overall the card looks like something a librarian or an old accountant (you know, the old guy that still uses paper and pad instead of a computer) would use.

This was a failed attempt to copy one of my friends business card designs:

I don't think ill ever be an artist my friend was born with the artistic talent I was born with the analytical. He can figure out technical stuff if he spends enough time on it.....doesn't matter how much time I spend messing with art it will never look as good.

It cost me like 25 bucks to get some really nice cards done by a designer on odesk.com.

We charge $40 for card design, but $150 for logo's..... then again we're a brick and mortar store - so it's a bit different then some kid on a website :)

Do yourself a massive favor and find someone that calls themselfs a graphic designer, not a printer or 'someone that good with clipart' and believe me you will never look back.

better to spend the money now and get a good result than realise your doing it wrong in 2 years time, been there, done that ;)

Anyone can call themselves anything they want. Just because I know HTML and can use an image editor doesn't mean I am a web designer.

Yes. People still use fax machines, because they're more efficient than scan+email.

From what I have seen companies keep them because customers or vendors still utilize them instead of scan and email. Most of these people don't have good internet or any internet at all. Businesses don't want to dump fax because people know that number.

Business Card

That card design might actually work well if you are targeting law firms. On the other hand if you are targeting the general public people are not likely to pay any attention to it.

If you want people's attention you need something bright or something that has a memorable character or logo. There is a reason why candy is packaged the way it is. The colors jump out and grab you. I'm not suggesting you should make your card like a candy wrapper, but it should at least grabs a peoples attention.
