My 2nd store was in need of new advertising, so I did opt to try TV advertising. I'm not 100% sure and it's kind of expensive but I have been wanting to try it. As some of you know, I have tried other things like billboards and didn't have good success, we'll see how this goes. So far, I have had about 6 people tell me they have seen the ads. No calls yet, but as it works...you have to keep on doing the ads.

It's fuzzy here because it's on Youtube.

If this one doesn't work, cable is next and it's cheaper. I will do a new ad too. If you watch it, tell me your thoughts please.

I like it. It doesn't waste time being goofy like some ads, its got enough detail but not overwhelming and right away your color scheme becomes something I would remember. You have a pleasant voice and look like someone professional.

Good stuff.

Thanks Jimbo :)

I opted to do the voice myself, I have listened to the local voiceover folks for years and didn't care for their voices and didn't want to pay more than I had to.

Everyone who has seen my ad, saw it in the early am too. Very odd! I picked spots during Judy Judy, Jimmy Fallon, 5:00 news, Today Show I and II and early morning.

I think the voice is just fine. There's merit to voicing your own spots and putting your own face on the ad, especially if you're the face they see when they come in.

I like the cute little shop too. It fits in well.

Unfortunately that's all I liked about it. It missed all the elements of a good ad.

TV Ads

It's KTTC in Southern MN.....it's not WGN. For the market, it's acceptable. We get KTTC here and I get tired of the same "voice over" voices.

My competitor did TV for a while, but never listed or stated a phone number....spent a lot of money...and now I don't see him doing TV anymore. But, the ad was VERY fast paced, too fast for Iowa, and too "slick" if you wanna call it that. This ad was folksy and to the point.

I'd be interested to see what Npinc has for tips and then post Npinc's TV ad.

It was good small town ad. Short and to the point. Showed the building, the vehicle, (to add an explanation of what you do to go along with the vehicle and building) and most importantly the owner. Shows that you are confident enough to put yourself out there in a relatively small community and not hide behind the business. It says, "I may see you in the supermarket some time and am confident enough you won't chew me out for providing horrible service".

I'm not familiar with your area enough to know if its large or small. So I guess I'm saying if your demographic is small or you are large enough to be seen all over in a larger area its good. If the above is not true, you might want to reconsider the size of the area you are trying to appeal to.

The ad was done (as you can tell) by "small town folks" (town of 100,000), not a big metropolitan advertising company. I figured you have to start somewhere, so you get the small town ad and make better ones as you make more money.

I was at the liquor store and asked Woody if he had seen my ad, he said yes and then a gal said, "is that you, I just saw your ad a couple of hours ago". I was thrilled to be honest.

Pay me and sure, I'll help you, one on one. You'll get more value out of it that way.

Jerk. That's all I have to say.

I love it I thought it was great.

Aww, thanks. :)

Now on to npinc

Here is what I recommend for you. If you have years of experience and post often about TV advertising and have an extensive background producing commercials, I would recommend you spend some time putting together a video series or write an ebook and approach Bryce about selling it here.

Now if you want some advice on how to sell ebooks, or how to offer free webinars to the Technibble members, or do phone consultations with members at no charge, let me know. I usually offer that advice for free.

Lisa,

I think your video ad it great. I'm no expert but here's some stuff to think about.

1) Most DVR and other devices can skip commercials. Normally it skip 10 or 15 seconds at a time. You might want to adjust the length so if they skip they still get a some ad.

2) You need to add something that they have to call while supply last.

Great Job. Overall I like it.

Hi Lisa

I agree with everyone else. I loved the Ad. It's personable memorable, and more to the point, tells your local community, your there, ready and willing to help.

It gives all the points of a pc shop.

I also agree with Roel, add a special offer, i dunno free virus checks, for the next 30 days or similar.

Dangit, we do have free diagnostics. I should email the producer to add that in and maybe a 20% off for the month of August deal. Thanks for the tips guys :)

I do have a 15 minute spot too, it's a "Computer tip of the week". I taped the first 3.5 seconds, now I have to send in a video from my phone to the producer and he'll slice my tip in and that's the 15 sec blippy ones that hopefully people will remember with the longer ones. I think these will be changed every 2 weeks so they are always appearing fresh.

Hal

Great Ad, The local aspect is a very good card to play. As for using your own voice, another good call. Most people who do voice overs either sound like the Star Trek computer voice, or Hal from 2001 a space Odyssey. Both really creepy.

Great job!

Advertising is always hit and miss. The pros don't even understand it. The trick is to consistently keep your biz out there in the public eye whatever medium you use.

To me the strength of your ad is you put a face to the biz. I'm new here but I already associate the color pink with you. That's smart marketing and branding.

The time slots you chose are predominately watched by women. Stay at home Moms and such. Was this done on purpose? Because its brilliant for you to target that demographic.

In a field dominated by men I think women will be comfortable with you making house calls. Best of luck to you!

If you don't mind me prying how much does something like this cost?

Cool! I like the ad. It seems good for a small town. I've never tried anything like that before, but I like your approach. Keep us updated on how effective it is! :D
