I needed a testing environment, new shop server, storage dump and general fun box :)

I need a bunch of molex to sata power adapters and a decent RAID card (suggestions?) and I'm done.

Specs:

AMD FX8120 - 8 cores, cheap. Underclocked to keep power use and temps down
Gigabyte FX-990A-UD3 - Lots of PCIE slots and full support for IOMMU passthrough in ESXi
32GB RAM
2x Intel Dual gigabit NICs
Asus 7770 2GB vid card
Fractal Design Arc Midi Case
istarusa Trayless Hot-Swap Cage - Buy this. I've gone through a bunch of these before and this is awesome. Backplane supports SATA3 and SAS and the thing is built like a tank.

Very nice indeed.

450w is probably within spec but I'd probably want to go with a slightly bigger PSU.

I'm estimating this thing pulling around 370w under full load, so 450w will be fine since it will almost never be under full load. I'll check with a kill-a-watt to make sure when I'm done.
