Hey all, i had a new business card made, here it is :D

businesscardfj6.jpg

I've Air brushed out my phone numbers for security reasons, i'm sure you understand :) Vista print are sending me 250 of those but I'd thought i would show you my electronic signature version :) its much better looking then the other one. I had bought some thick card of about 300 microns but my HP printer does not like it as it slips on the rollers so I was either thinking of getting a epson or a canon one just to print my cards every now and then instead of vista print.

do any of you use a home printer to print your cards out at all ? if so what model do you use ?

thanks

Agreed, vista print or overnight prints who I prefer, are so cheap and produce great cards that its not worth doing it at home, I started out doing it at home and the time spent, the cost of paper and ink is just not worth it, You may save a few buck and mean only a few but your cards will not have a gloss uv coating giving it a nice look and durability. All the cards I did at home would starting fading away the ink when just in my wallet for a couple days. The ones from Vista print do not, they are real nice.

i'll stick with vista print aswell then although i didnt choose the glossy option perhaps next time i will :)

I'm about to act on the deal I made with myself as it relates to Vista Print. That is, whenever possible, I've promised myself that I would turn people away from Vista Print. Could be childish or a needless vendetta. But I will never use Vista Print for anything. I did a side by side bake off with Vista Print and OvernightPrints.com. Overnight Prints wins hands down and Vista Print astounded me with their poor quality.
I had business cards designed and I uploaded the .ai files to both OvernightPrints and Vista Print. The OvernightPrints cards were flawless. Great value. Everyone comments on how good they are. Vista Print botched the job so bad they didn't even have my logo on the card. Not sure how they missed that. The same .ai file, the same logo, text, etc. Yet from Vista Print they somehow cut my logo completely out. I've attached a scanned comparison of both. VP is on the bottom. How do you cut the logo off? It's sort of prominent.

Vista print makes TERRIBLE door magnets. They're paper thin and barely stay on. Mine blew off the first day I had it on my car. I ended up buying cut vinyl graphics locally.

hey, I just ordered 250 biz cards with my uploaded logo for free from Overnight Prints! use code MP250DEAL in checkout, it only cost me $8.95 for shipping!

I switched from VistaPrint to Gotprint.com. They are far superior in every way and their prices are comparable. I've tried overnight prints as well for cards and still prefer gotprint :)

Yes, they are very good, but I couldn't resist this deal.

Back when I did graphic design I used to do a lot of printing. I worked with literally 100's of printing companies and over the years I found PSPrint. They are usually a couple dollars more expensive than the other guys but they are sooo worth it for their customer service!

EDIT": I forgot to mention. One time I had an order completely screwed up and it was my fault entirely and I even reviewed the work and they still reprinted everything and shipped it all again all for free- did I mention the order made it on time still? They managed to get the bad version at my home two days earlier than expected- and the second order on the original shipment date...so yeah, very much love the customer service.

personally i avoid vistaprint for cards.

yes they are cheap but you get what you pay for nasty cheap cards.

Remember your business card gives out an impression of your company and if your giving cheap nasty cards your clients will associate this with the company. Certainly domestic clients wont care aslong as they get your contact number but for business clients always give them quality cards and help spead a professional image.

I would have to disagree with you on that, i have had a number of business cards, postcards, pens, T-shirts e.t.c, from VistaPrint and they have been quaility and i have never had any problems with them, and everybody how has my business card commits on how professional it is.

I can tell you for a fact that the t-shirts are not worth it. When I first started the business I bought 5 shirts from them with the design of my business card blown up on the front and a list of services written on the back with a few other things. After 1 wash all the shirts shrunk, everything faded, and the front picture started cracking. Vista print t-shirts = good price / bad quality. Like someone above said, you get what you pay for.

The T-shirts you get are okay, the logo or writing is done by a transfer and is stuck on and then ironed, alot of places do this, so it is no different if you go somewhere else.

I think we will have to agree to disagree then. Im sitting with some old vistaprint cards and some goodprint cards infront of me at the moment and the quality is night and day. eg correct size for standard cards, thicker, and text just looks better.

Okay then, if you get the matt ones they are crap, but i designed my logo from them, and added it to my business card, i got it done in glossy with foil added to the logo, looks smart and professional, it you get business cards done from Vistaprint they must be glossy.

I only will get embroidered shirts. Print transfer shirts look ugly, and the transfer usually comes off after 3 or 4 washes...after the first wash it gets "crackled" as well.

Embroidered shirts are permanent, look great and give off a more professional look in my opinion. Also, whenever possible I like to support my local businesses even if they cost a little more. Save five bucks- or save your local economy? Seems like you really only have one choice to me ;)

Hey hey, not necessarily. My T-shirts that a local guy screen-prints for me hold up pretty well. All my shirts and sweatshirts have been through the wash at least a dozen times with no cracking and only slight fading. My buddy though who got his stuff from an online company went to crap like you said after a few washes. I posted some of my "swag" in an earlier thread here http://tinyurl.com/lnrmge (My dads photo site)
