My First GPT Nightmare

Well - you were all correct - I did wasted far to many hours on this thing. And missed the Grand Prix.

Cleaned drive, Created the 5 partitions okay. Used DISM to apply install.wim.
Failed to boot. Number of Windows installations detected =0
Messed about with rebuild BCD in the hidden EFI partition. No change.
Cleaned drive then installed w8.1 - no problems at all . Had an great idea - Why not format C: partition then just apply the .wim ?
FAIL. Back to boot fail & no Windows detected.
Rebuilt parttions layou as per original setup - apply image - still no bootup.

Finaly just reinstalled w8.1 again. Some drivers needed w8 compatability mode.

We should have a sticky on knowing when to just N&P.:(

Increasingly, it seems to me, OEMs are only making the original as-shipped drivers available for direct download (certainly true for Sony). If you want up-to-date versions, or 8.1-compatible, you're supposed to use the respective updater. Snappy will usually have something, of course.
