A few weeks ago a system came in with an odd problem. book marks where not working.
Check it out and they had been hit with MOLE02 ransomware. They had no backup, McAfee Security.
So we upsell a SSD, Reinstall Windows. and scan and remove infections from the data, apart from the bookmarks as these where the only affected files. Transfer the data, add some REAL security to the system and off they go, last week a decryption tool was released and they now have all there files back.
I have asked them for this weeks lottery numbers as I have never seen anything like this happen before. So little damage and being able to recover the files with ease.
