Microsoft Prepares to Autoupdate Windows 10 v1803 and Earlier Devices

I have not had any jobs related to issues caused by Windows 10 feature updates for a while now. Maybe since 1803.

If they hit my junk I'll be ******. It's not my fault they didn't release 1809 until six months after it actually released. I'm still waiting for the 90 day counter to expire on 1809's "release" in MARCH. Then once on 1809, I have to update the GPOs to six months so 1903 doesn't hit the desks until November.

They could at least wait until support ends

Don't force people to upgrade an OS that still has 4+ months of support (November 10th). It's a significant time considering they are only released with 18 month support.

My main system I have pro set to semi - annual channel so at least I get for months delay for them to fix the issues. So I wonder if it's out in the media creation tool now

@ell, with the release of 1903, the Semi Annual (Targetted) channel no longer exists. Semi-Annual is now on 1903, and it's already live. So if you've got that delay configured, it's counting down on both 1809 AND 1903 right now. Which is why I have to update all my GPOs to 6 months after the 1809 roll out.

well I'm still at 1809, so time will tell.

Feature Updates will no longer be installed automatically Except when your version nears EOL - BUT you will still see them appear automatically in Windows Update when it is deemed ready for your machine. The new change is that you then have to ask for it to 'Download and install now'.
You must b current with the cumulative updates and be no hard blocks from MS for your machine.
