I discovered these recentish and got myself one much more recently so I was just curious what people here thought of them. I got myself a Ducky DK9008G2 PRO and love it really glad I got it.

IBM Series M - The only keyboard you'll ever need.
No [Win] key, clanks like a steampunk zeplin, will last your lifetime, and can be used to knock the ever loving hell out of the guy next to you munching on Cheetos all day long - and never miss a beat.

/Yes, I still have one.
//Several of them actually

Nice! You may be setting on a small fortune. Those things command a premium on eBay....especially the black ones.

I got them all when I lived down your way.
Worked at IBM and Lexmark in Lexington for a while back in the 90's

Good ole Lexmark. I always like to root for the home team, but found it difficult to like their consumer grade products. I am glad to see them doing somewhat better now, and hope they continue to do so. It's probably a good thing that they're getting out of the inkjet business though.

Edging back on topic:
I really would like to get an illuminated keyboard for home, and I noticed Ducky has one that is mechanical as well.....but it's like $143 at New Egg

I don't really get the allure of a mechanical keyboard. Probably the last thing I would upgrade on my computer.

I had an M series keyboard, in about 2000 me and my mate decided to cut the losses on the IBM PS/2 386 we bought to flog on, he kept the 386, I kept the keyboard! Wish I still had it but I chucked it out, to be fair it was not in very good condition.

I do miss those old IBM keyboards.

Got one myself. Keeps on typin, thing will out last us all. Used mine as a hammer once, acted like it was nothing. Do that with todays keyboards and they will crack in half..

Mechanical keyboards are great and will most likely keep working long after you and the rest of the human race jhave died out, but honestly, my G15 is for the most part the only keyboard I will probably ever use again. Had it for years, and with those customizable keys, I'm able to use the keyboard to a whole new level. The only thing I use my mechanical keyboard for is for my POS gateway that's still running windows 95. Eventually, that computer will die, but probaly not for another 10 years

You can check out www.mechanicalkeyboards.com see if it isn't as expensive plus they have a huge selection of options including lots of variety of switch type. It was the only place I could find the Cherry MX Green switch which is what mine uses.

If you use a keyboard heavily it can really make typing more comfortable and accurate. I just really like the feel of mine when I press the keys I am less fond of the sound, mine is clicky, but after using it for a while and getting used to it I don't mind it so much.

Oh my gosh....wow, the memories.....when I was working for one of the local franchises of the "Computer Land" chain ....man, we had thousands of those. To think of how many we threw out over the years.

Realizing you didn't mean that you *used* 1000 all at the same time but...
 I'm imagining the sound of 1000 of those things clanking at once!
I have a headache now.

No...the volume of them. We supplied PCs for large school systems, the casinos when they were built up here (Foxwoods, and Mohegan Sun), and a lot of other very large corporate accounts...like Masonicare. We'd have full size tractor trailer deliveries. Did some serious volume at that place back in the golden years.

Recently bought my first mechanical keyboard, it is a Corsair K95. It's amazing. I ended up having to buy another one for the house.

There's a sale right now @ Newegg on the cooler master blue switch quickfire rapid! $50 after rebate and coupon. I can't decide whether to pull the trigger.

Edit: Nevermind, bought it. :)

Edit: Love it!
