Wow quite a few systems mostly laptops some desktops when i try to update them fully 1903 it refuses pops up a window and says this computer is not compatible with windows 10 odd thing is they are i7 1st to 4th gen with built in video as well as laptops with Intel displays.
I hate to see what will happen in 5 years when i9 systems with built in video will no longer be compatible with windows 10.

Windows update said this current machine of mine "wasn't ready" via Windows update, and the update assistant just did it for me. 1903 isn't fully deployed via Windows update yet, so that error makes sense.

The ISO install method via USB key won't work, you have to copy the install to the machine because the installer won't run if there is any USB mass storage devices connected to the system. All USB drives, and external HDDs must be disconnected, this includes multicard readers during upgrade.

But yeah, finding out exactly WHY a unit isn't upgradable right now is inordinately hard. 3rd party AV can cause it, I've heard of VMWare Workstation and VirtualBox causing it.

But that you're not ready yet warning via Windows update? I've had several machines upgrade via the upgrade assistant just fine through that, which tells me it's a generic you're got getting this yet error.

Is this a new thing with 1903? I've done countless upgrades from an ISO on a USB and never had issues. Yet to start rolling out 1903 though, or 1809 for that matter (will be skipped entirely now).

1903 is available on windows update as a manual update just updated a customers machine did take quite sometime, before i updated i ran full cleaning and optimization as well as running dism and sfc and running autoruns and updated the drivers the machine still was running slow after i updated to 1903 it now runs very fast? not sure why.

Yeah as Porthos says, it's a bug in the 1903 installer. I've had too many issues with 1803/1809/and 1903 corrupting user profiles when I update off the ISO anyway so I just use the upgrade assistant and let it download it.

@Galdorf, that's the one upside to this semi-annual ritual, an upgrade install is a refresh of the OS, and a great way to keep system creep at bay. Sounds like something in the OS was buggered, and now it isn't... who cares what it is, the problem is gone. This cleaning effect is responsible for keeping Win10 stations off the repair bench.

True

Microsoft has released the latest update before resolving a number of outstanding issues. But at least they now provide a more centralized location for getting update information. The home page (dashboard) can be found here and the specific page for the latest update can be found here.

That doc page detailing when releases were released has been around since Win 10's launch, it's not new.

I have had one laptop so far that keyboard stops working with 1903. Roll it back and it works fine. Bios updated. Tried upgrading and fresh install both times 1903 kills the keyboard.
