Has anyone used the new MBAM 3.0? I recently setup a new client's computer (dell optiplex 3040, Core i5, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD, Windows 7 Pro) and upon booting Windows, MBAM 3.0 Premium would literally lock up the entire computer for a minute (can't move cursor), then eventually it would say protection not fully enabled. I couldn't sort it out and needed to get the client's computer back to her, so I downgraded her back to 2.2 or whatever the previous version was. Computer works just fine now, and boots up on 20 seconds as it should. Using MSE for antivirus if that matters. Is 3.0 on the "software to avoid" list?

I just installed MBAM 3.0 Premium trial on another client's laptop running Windows 10 and it is fine. I wonder if this is a Windows 7 issue.

Currently MSE is on the known issues to be fixed in a future release.

  • If you are running an earlier Alpha or Beta, and your upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.0 fails for any reason, simply uninstall the earlier version and then reinstall new version.
  • Occasionally, after installing, you will see a “protection layer is off” warning while the protection is being or has already been automatically turned on. (We have a fix for this coming soon!)
  • Occasionally, after installing, the user could see a “failure to connect to service” error, usually a reboot or rerunning the installer will correct the failure.
  • Microsoft Security Essentials running alongside Malwarebytes 3.0 might cause system lockdowns under Windows 7 due to a buggy Microsoft update.
  • Clicking some of the help “?”s throughout Malwarebytes currently does not do anything.
  • Some Windows Insider Preview builds blue-screen at Malwarebytes 3.0's Web Protection.
  • Custom Scan options are not persisted for subsequent scans.
  • New scans don't reset "Threats Quarantined" counter on Scan Summary page.
  • The correct date and time format is not enforced when adding or editing a scheduled scan.
  • Custom anti-exploit shields are not enabled by default.
  • A few miscellaneous issues exist with Windows XP Web Protection and Exclusions.
  • Some dialogs are improperly formatted with high DPI settings.
  • Any User Access Policy created in MBAM 2.x is not migrated when upgrading from MBAM 2.x to Malwarebytes 3.0; a new policy will have to be created.
  • Malwarebytes 3.0 Installation can fail if installed from an imdisk virtual disk.

I noticed too that the anti exploit along with kaspersky internet security will stop chrome from opening. The new malwarebytes has the exploit built in, so if you are using Kaspersky, disable the exploit protection to get chrome back.

MBAM 3.0 is still very new. I prefer to let other people do the beta testing.
Agreed but they appeared to have removed the 2.whatever version download from their website. No big deal, as my client still had the old version installer once I dug through their Downloads folder.

That's where I'm at. Also, does this mean our paid licences for 2x are garbage? Does anybody know if they carry over?

I have a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware lifetime license. Will it work for Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium?
Yes! Malwarebytes 3.0 can simply be installed on top of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and a lifetime license will automatically apply to Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium.

Existing Subscriptions
I have a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium or Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium subscription. Will I get Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium subscription automatically?
Yes. If you have an existing Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or Malwarebytes Anti- Exploit subscription, your subscription will be migrated to Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium automatically at no extra charge.

What will happen if I have both Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium subscriptions?
If you have both Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit, you will now have 2 Malwarebytes 3.0 subscriptions. If you don’t want the extra subscription, you can give it away to friends or family, or choose not to renew when you subscription term is up.

I'm a business customer and I want Malwarebytes 3.0! When can I get it?
Business customers using un-managed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware standalone can upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.0. The managed Malwarebytes 3.0 will be shipping for business customers by early next year. We’re very excited about some really cool endpoint protection management technologies we have in the pipeline for our business customers.

What will happen to Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Free?
We will continue offering Anti-Exploit as a stand-alone perpetual Beta. This Beta of Anti-Exploit will include all Premium features of Anti-Exploit. New techniques will be added first to the Anti-Exploit Beta before for testing before they are integrated into Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium. Users who wish to continue using Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit only instead of Malwarebytes 3.0 will be able to do so through the use of this perpetual Beta.

What will happen to Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware Beta (Free)?
We will continue offering Anti-Ransomware as a stand-alone perpetual Beta. This Beta of Anti-Ransomware will include all ransomware blocking capabilities. New techniques will be added first to the Anti-Ransomware Beta before for testing before they are integrated into Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium. Users who wish to continue using Anti-Ransomware Beta only instead of Malwarebytes 3.0 will be able to do so through the use of this perpetual Beta.

I don't like how Malwarebytes is using people to test their product, and they put our reputations on the line. I know every new product will find issues once in the real world, but some issues they could've found themselves.

True. But this release is NOT being pushed out to 2.0 customers at this time. The only people who are getting are the ones who are new to it or have downloaded it themselves. You can always use the 2.0 version until then.

I have tried version 3 nothing but problems newest version with updates shields won't stay up, get lockups and BSOD in windows 7.
Gone back to version 2 also been having issues getting updates on version 2 anyone else?.

I've had nothing but problems with it also, they really need to do more testing before pushing this out. I've always been a big fan of malwarebytes but I'm not recommending it at this time to anyone. The Kaspersky bug gave me a lot of trouble with the new malwarebytes, basically I had to do alot of free support which we all love!

I do not know what the trigger is that is causing these freezes and poor performance in certain scenarios and malware bytes can't figure it out either. It is not microsoft security essentials as uninstalling it does not resolve the issue. I am also in windows 7 and have experienced the same thing as well as strange sticky keyboard entries in games in certain situations. For example i'll tap A to turn left and it will act like I held it down briefly.

Thats not true, I turned on my computer one day and it was already there.

Edit: You know what just in case theres a pattern here I wanted to add that I am on a Core i5, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD, Windows 7 Pro

Edit2: I also wanted to add that I disabled the new shields and it made absolutely no difference on the issue so im not sure what it is.

Been testing 3.0 on my home machine with zero issue so far.
Default install
Panda Antivirus Free
Win Defender turned off
Win 7 HP
64 bit
Acer Aspire laptop
No issues at all during the 14 day trial.

Those of you having issues might want to install 3.0.6 preview.
https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/194279-malwarebytes-306-release-preview-now-available/

We now have an early preview of our upcoming Malwarebytes 3.0.6 release available.

If you are experiencing any sort of issue at all with an earlier version of Malwarebytes (e.g. 3.0.4 or 3.0.5), please try this newest one instead.

Malwarebytes v. 3.0.6.1458 can be downloaded from this link.

We've addressed over a 100 items in this release, so that's too many to list here, but we tried to get most of the top issues people were seeing.

What's New in 3.0.6:

Performance/protective capability

  • Several improvements to malware detection and remediation capabilities
  • Several performance improvements, including improving startup time, improving shutdown time on Windows 7, addressing memory leaks and reducing CPU usage after a scan has completed
  • Added MS Publisher as a default Protected Application for anti-exploit protection
Usability

  • Fixed issue where a previously activated Premium license could be dropped incorrectly
  • Fixed issue where Malwarebytes version information would revert to default values of 3.0.0 in certain cases, such as when coming back from minimal safe mode
  • Fixed issue where ‘Real-Time Protection turned off’ notifications would display incorrectly on initial startup
  • Fixed problem where the 'Check for updates every' setting would get stuck at 14 days after changing frequency to ‘Days’
  • Fixed Help question marks throughout the main user interface so that they work when clicked
Stability/issues fixed

  • Addressed several crashes and blue screens, including the BSOD that could occur with Web Protection on Windows Insider Previews
  • Fixed the issue with Exploit Protection that caused Edge to crash/hang on Windows Insider Previews
  • Fixed issue when Exploit Protection was enabled that caused PowerPoint to not load
  • Fixed conditions that could lead to an ‘Unable to connect to service’ error
  • Fixed issue where exclusions did not work properly when there were associated threat traces detected
  • Fixed issue where Web Protection would not start up properly
  • Fixed numerous scan hangs or crashes, including one that could occur during heuristics phase
  • Numerous other fixes to improve overall program stability and usability
The one notable issue that was not able to be included in this release was problem with imaging programs (such as Macrium Reflect) where large artifact files are left System Volume Information file if a backup is created with anti-ransomware protection enabled. That one should be coming soon after this release!

I just got another call and malwarebytes was the culprit, it broke local network connections to a fleetmate database. Uninstalled malwarebytes and boom everything is working smoothly. The new malwarebytes just seems bloated compared to what it used to be, I liked the secondary layer of protection it added to your normal av and it worked well.
