Mac Speed Issue (but not a slow down)

I have a 1st Gen. Macbook Air with only 2GBs of NON-upgradable RAM. It is a fresh install of Lion, so its not a "clean up" type issue. Simply its an older laptop with a newer OS, but Lion is a requirement of one of the apps I want to use.

I was wondering if the Mac had any Windows Services type programs that run at boot time but could be disabled to get better performance out of it?

If this is a fresh OS install, then no. If not fresh OS, then probably yes, depending how messy/careless/unaware the original user is. Check for stuff you don't want in library/startupitems and launchagents/daemons. I would backup first if you aren't absolutely sure what you're deleting. Don't delete anything in system folder.

Also try checking the Login Items Section of System Preferences > Users & Groups. However I don't expect there would be much, since its a fresh install.
Could also try removing the default widgets on the dashboard to free up memory.

The minimum RAM requirement for Lion is 2GB. So if the machine is doing anything besides sitting idle you're going to notice a performance hit. Other than that check for free drive space since the disk is going to be doing a lot of RAM caching. But if it is the MBAir with an SSD that won't be too bad.
