Good day all, I know this discussion might have been out here before and forgive me if it has. With the economy being the way that it is, people are not spending money as fast for basic repairs or are able to go online and youtube and try to do their own repairs..... My question will be........what other venues are you all doing (i.e. Tablets repair) to keep the flow going or what are you all implementing to keep the cash flow going? I would love to hear the thoughts, opinions and ideas of you all, thank you kindly.

WOW, very impressive.

Managed services and products for business clients.....recurring monthly revenue, it's only growing..and growing.
E-Mail filtering services
Offsite backup services
BDR...disaster recovery..high end backup and business continuity.
Other related managed services as far as computer/network needs go for SMB...DNS management, license management, antivirus management, etc.
Most of those things require no inventory/overhead...it's mostly pure profit.

I agree managed services are also key, we are adding them slowly... some people call me crazy... I call myself crazy, and VERY busy!

Since PCX also mentioned it, we do used/refurbed pc's, laptops, and phones. Makes for some CRAZY days! my fuel bill has been going down recently though, which is good! less driving and more $$$

I agree with diversification. If you don't have the license or the knowledge then use sub contractor.

I added Data Recovery on my services. I considered it a big investment and it paid off. I already got my investment back within a few months. Thinking of getting another, to speed up the service but mainly as a backup. It's perfect for me because I do mobile support. While I'm onsite my machine at the office is making some $$$.

There are many avenues you can consider, one that most people go to is MSP, managed services for their business clients. It's much easier if you already have a larger business client base as opposed to focusing solely on consumers.

Also data recovery is another area of interest that we are going to be moving into within the next year. There is a lot more that can be done without having to send off the hard drive to places like Drive Savers. I have been investigating and researching and doing my due diligence.

Like you've mentioned, I've seen the trend of home users declining repair and instead going for a new computer and or moving towards a tablet or smart phone. I think we just need to adapt and plan for the future and we'll figure it out.

We've taken a different approach. We don't fix computers. We say we make peoples technology work for them.
We are a small mobile company. We target small business, independent and home based businesses in the entertainment industry. They have some unique needs, but mostly they just want to get things done and don't want to break things down and take it somewhere to be fixed. And they want it to all work together computers tvs printers music Streaming skype whatever. Windows Macs iphones android tablets apple tv xbox icloud office 365
If it's broken we fix or replace it. We recommend upgrades or new hardware and software and install it. We talk to their ISP or Dell or Apple or other providers to fix problems.
We know our limitations, we do basic cabling, phones, and networking but we bring in experts for Exchange or cabling when we need to.
Our clients run from technophobes to very knowledgeable and sophisticated. We fill in the gaps.

I am definitely going to make data recovery one of my feature services. I have trialed some data recovery programs, some free ones can do a great job in recovery files even after reformat and reinstallation, some files are recovered in their original name, others in weird symbols and numbers. Then their are some paid ones that not only recovers the files but the folders that the files were in, all with their names, you can know the excite folders and files you are trying to recover, awesome.

Are their any online tutorials or guides on tablet repair or is there any difference between PC and tablet?
