Locked out of Windows 8

Ok. I am going to pick up a Dell desktop with Windows 8 tomorrow. I looked at it yesterday when I was at a customers house fixing their other computer. So I started it up to log in to see what she was telling me was wrong. I put in the password she gave me and it never took. She said that the user icon, which was a picture of him, was not set by them and it appeared when they could no longer log in to the machine. The email address above was not his and when I put the password in it said that the password was wrong and to sign in to your hot mail account or use the last password you used to log in to this machine. I think there is malware on this machine that has locked them out. Actually both machines in the house have virus' on them, but this one is the worst so I am going to fix it first. The first thing I was going to do is pull the hard drive out of the tower and scan it externally. Has anyone else come across this or am I just a Windows 8 novice and missing something/

Disable uefi/secure boot. Boot parted magic, enable hidden admin account, make sure to blank the password. Reboot, enable uefi and secure boot again, boot to Windows 8, log on as admin, do what you need to do.

Sounds like the end user setup a local account to install Windows 8 and then tried to goto the store and was walked into the setup of a Microsoft Account. Probably with a live.com or outlook.com email instead of using there own email to setup the account. It is easy to do if your click happy and don't stop and read. They are claiming they didn't do it but they did so and are too ignorant/embarrassed/stupid to understand or admit this.

To fix this you will have to regain control of the Microsoft account.

Be sure to make a full clone of the drive before trying to fix it. It is near impossible to undo changes and is a lot less stressful when something goes wrong.

This is the winner winner chicken dinner. I went to live.accountsdotcom and used his gmail to reset his password. He must have got click happy and created a Windows Live account and didn't realize this was going to be the log in for his PC. He also bought a $149 Microsoft support package. That was a waste of money. And I have found tons of POP CAP games on here as well. But at least I got in to it. Oh ya. There was a disc in the DVD drive that had exploded as well. So they need a new DVD drive.

I have a customer who cant grasp the concept that if the pc says the password is wrong then its more than likely wrong... especially since its a brand new setup that she had her *insert 3 tier genetic relation tree here* help her setup the MS account for... I told her ill gladly help her reset it in store but only during my hours I work... her position is thst she knows her password but the pc has it stored wrong... *face palm* and that it is unreasonable of me not to stay 3 hours late at my retail job to assist her ( my 2nd tech was off for a few days) There is only so much one can offer to overcome another inability to accept logic :(
