Okay guys, so I think it would be cool to start a thread of nothing but newsletter ideas to write about. This will give people some ideas and it's a really good marketing tool if you can make a monthly newsletter. The hardest part isn't the writing about a subject, it's coming up with a subject while STAYING OFF OF THE REPAIR SUBJECT! No topics should pertain to something you do that makes you money. It should be helpful hints to do things they already do in their daily lives, but maybe there is a shortcut. For example, one heading could be:

Heading: Copy/Cut/Paste Simplified
Content: Here you could talk about the keyboard shortcuts that not everyone knows about, ctrl+x to cut, ctrl+c to copy, and ctrl+v to paste.

I'm sure this can be expanded out to at least a short 5 sentence paragraph to be a small part of your newsletter.

Here is my list of topics, short, I know, but that's why I'm looking to you all! :D

  • Viruses and the importance of a good A/V program
  • How to get a free anti-virus (provided you don't sell one)
  • How to defrag your computer
  • I can't think of anything else!!!!!!

*Security and online shopping
*Top of the class alternatives to popular software
*The importance of Age (tips and products for the elderly)

I can probably come up with more but for now I will leave it at that.

I have also been looking at sending out a newletter and I was also struggling to decide on what content to put into it.

I had a few ideas such as:

- Tips of the Week/Month
- Latest Offers or Discounts your company is running
- Latest Computer News?

The first computer virus.
The first computer virus in the wild.

Computer services buyers guide (Educate clients what to look for in a service company)

Options for recycling your old computer equipment.

Things to do before calling tech support.
What to expect when you call for tech support :-) (We could have some fun with this one)

What the modem actually is (Maybe not)

  • Current computer viruses and warning signs you're infected.
  • Stories related to your services, such as pluses and minuses of using such and such.
  • Funny customer stories.

*What does rogueware look like when it first appears on your screen.
*Netbooks: the place in your life for a tiny computer.
*Why Comic Sans is always the wrong font choice
Your home network, expanding the possibilities.
*Your kids and computing. Safety, appropriateness and facebook-addiction.
*My old computer is pollution?
*"Dammit! Stop slamming that laptop cover shut! And another thing, UNPLUG the adapter before you throw it in that Dooney & Bourke laptop bag.

Newsletters are my favorite marketing tool of all time! I am so dead tired, I will add to this list over the weekend. Great ideas everyone!

So how is this looking? are we ready to do this? I'll see if I can't start this off by posting a Windows 7 Tip:

To adjust the size of the Windows 7 desktop icons, you can right click and select view - then choose large, medium, or small... or you can click on an empty area of the desktop and hold the CTRL key down while moving your scroll wheel up or down.
