Hi.
I'm working on a kids laptop (he has Aspergers), which has a vertical line.

Normally this would be a straight forward screen replacement, but they can't afford it.

From my very dim and distant memory, did I see a software package somewhere which could "edit out" that line ?

Love as always

There are apps that are intended to try and fix a stuck pixel by rapidly flashing through the color spectrum, but I've never heard of anything that would work on an entire column. That is likely unfixable. Any chance you have a used screen in your bone pile?

I've never heard of software that could edit out a column of dead pixels. I would think that even if there was it would leave you with a vertical black line.

You've seen those warning labels telling you not to touch or put pressure along the bottom width of the panel. Those connections are extremely delicate and just a little bit of flexing can cause it to fail. You might get lucky by putting slight pressure at the bottom of the panel where the vertical line emanates from. Maybe folding a tiny piece of non-conductive electricians tape and securing the bezel might be all you need.

This is a pizza tech fix. Replacement of the panel is the only correct remedy but if the client has no dough they have nothing to lose. If they can't afford to even pay you labor for trying you can show them what to do on a bad panel you have laying around. They can look for Youtube vids for removal instructions of their panel.

Yep..... That's what I was thinking of.

Cheers guys, I'll do some more digging and find a screen.
