This annoys me. A bunch of dogooders behind their computers trying to be fresh hip and cool by opposing. They only know the facts they are told and realistically the ugandan army are probably just as savage. Those countries are the way they are for a reason because they seem happy living like that and dont help them selves.

No way will I be donating to that when the charity its supporting as someone else posted a link to is probably riddled with cheats ripping the donations off to live a lavish lifestyle. They just play on it.

Thats my two sense. Not a racist but I am a realist and this is something that does not concern us.

Spoken like someone who is not widely traveled or educated. Poor countries often are left to be poor because first world countries like the US and UK see little value in supporting them. The US in particular only cares about nations that offer some strategic or economic benefit. Citizens of these poor countries are often left to the will of the ruling elite, which is most interested in keeping themselves in power, and little else. Dameize, what you are saying is that these people are lazy and should get off their fat asses and be useful. I find your impression that people are happy in their plights offensive and reflective of ignorant Westerners in general.

While this is often true, there are legitimate international organizations that do a fantastic job at getting aid and assistance to those that need it. While I am no bleeding heart liberal, it can be argued that it is moral for strong/rich countries to help those less fortunate. While there are many that 'play' on sympathies and live high on the hog, it is unfortunate that this common thought is so ingrained in people.

Not a racist but I am a realist and this is something that does not concern us.

In 2011 USAID contributed $221,891,934 in foreign assistance to Uganda, this is not counting other civilian programs like Feed The Children.

This was mentioned on the 10 o'clock live last night, apparantly only somthing like a 3rd of what they raise actually goes to Uganda, the rest is spent on creating these crap videos, half of which don't even mention Uganda.

This isn't anything new, it has been going on in Uganda for over three decades. While we've been occupied in the Middle East for a decade, China has started moving into Africa pretty aggressively, trading development & Aid for civilian & military contracts.

I suspect to see Africa get a lot more attention from the USA during this year, even though none of it is new.
