I feel like I'm trying to "reinvent the wheel". I have many repair apps on my flash drives and I have spent hours today getting it setup. Does anyone have a config they'd like to share or point me to?

Thank you. I found that tool and donated to get it. I haven't had a chance to open the email yet.

Xander I always mean to get involved but I never do. Still, I'd like to. It's the first place I go if I have a question though.

I use Ketarin and then a custom autoit script to copy and re-copy the downloaded files over to my thumb drives.

However, the other day I dropped some new hardware in my bench rig and installed windows 8.1 (I figured it was time, heh), and even though Ketarin is portable and set on the NON-OS drive, it somehow ate all my settings, so my profile is gone too.

It was big...and it took a long time to build. I THINK I posted it to this forum a long time ago but haven't yet taken the time to try to find the post.

And ... (you knew this was coming) ... you can't restore it from your backup?

Lol, what is there to restore? The non-OS drive didn't get wiped, it's a storage drive. Ketarin doesn't install anything, it runs in-situ, although apparently it must store something somewhere. I upgraded from 7 to 8.1 on a fresh install, so not like I could restore that. I thought I had a backup of the .xml I sent out here sitting in my dropbox, I was mistaken. The one I posted here was a long time ago...it's been curated more since then.

I DO have a full image of the old system, but it doesn't exactly do me a lot of good in this particular case, does it?

And SAG---thanks for being a good dude. I wonder how many revisions ago that was, heh. Guess I'll find out.

By default, Ketarin stores its profile in "ketarin.xml" and its database as "ketarin.db". If you restore those two files into the same directory as ketarin.exe you should be good-to-go.

I have multiple Ketarin profiles (one for customer-support applications and another for installation executables) and the filename of the .db matches it's .ini profile.

It's a good thing that there are others who are willing to do more than ask for help or nobody would ever get answers.

Xander, I might be more involved if I didn't have to deal with comments like yours. Thankfully there are others in the community that at more helpful instead.

You wouldn't get negative feedback if less people like you only came by every 18 months. Post as parasitically as you want. Don't expect applause.

Nline / Xander.

I have removed your posts, as they add nothing to the overall discussion on this thread.

As an aside, name calling is against the forum rules, as you both should be well aware.

Please keep the thread on track.

Try this tool which has over 300 freeware apps for techs which uses Ketarin to download & update all the apps. http://gegeek.com/

I started out with a Ketarin toolkit TechTools 2.0 years ago and then changed to D7 when it was free or reasonably priced for me. Of course I have added my own proggies to the flashdrive.

Lately I have noticed that I am only using about 20 of the features, I don't use the automation, some of the programs won't update and I end up forgetting where things are and using the search function to find them.

It is like my old Volvo with bald tires and squeaky springs and a bunch of crap in the backseat.

Thanks to Mike the GEGeek for offering his toolkit.
Made a donation today and taking it for a spin this week.
