Just a rant - installing new CPU

Wow what a battle, took an hour to sort out a simple CPU drop into my current board.

I didnt want to spend $$$ on upgrading to a newer chipset so I managed to get a higher CPU than I had i510040 > Intel 11th Gen i9-11900KF.
TPM what an absolute pain in the ..... Stated was not running and had an issue. BIOS TPM was enabled same as windows. So after removing credentials, adding this doing that. I tried to ask A.I though as usual was an idiot and just kept looping do this and that..nope corrected it about four damn times.

I had already updated BIOS before new CPU so no trouble there. It was all of the linked MS Services and Authentication that was sending it haywire.
Gone are the days of a simple CPU drop and maybe a BIOS update, now a massive loop to reconfigure MS Authentication arghhh.

Now to benchmark, as the CPU was my only bottleneck rather than spending thousands on a new system.

Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.9 GB usable)

Hehe yea most of my Steam Library runs accross them.

Reset CMOS
Clarified TPM was enabled in BIOS
Signed out of everything MS related
I removed credentials to anything related to MS reset and had to authenticate with MS again
Cleared TPM via tpm.msc [I do not have bitlocker active so good]
Restarted
I never have a logon pin or anything like that - so no problems about logging back in.
Went to web based MS Logins to verify if it was not anything else.
Worked after this, though was sent in a loop with A.I which wanted me to edit .reg...No I am not doing that Hal.

I had something similar and all I did was install the BIOS update for the MSI-590A-Pro motherboard (my own PC).

Yes, I suspended Bitlocker and even made certain to have the bitlocker key. Put it on a Memory stick, went into M-Flash etc. The update went well and it booted.

Of course, this update reset the TPM, so instead of logging in with my password (now a Hello PIN *shrugs at the change*), I instead had to find my phone and use the Microsoft Authenticator to authenticate to my Microsoft Account! What kind of garbage is this... I am sure it is to have a backdoor into everyone's computer despite encryption.

Anyway I finally got into Windows and reset my "Hello PIN"

I ended up running commands like this to check my machine's Hybrid Join state: dsregcmd /status

M365 apps were broken... and NO signing in just provided an error at least for Outlook.

At least it got the program to recognize my logon despite the very same logon not passing through to M365.

I finally opened the Windows Credential Manager and deleted ALL credentials associated with MS Office... Relaunched and everything has been good since.


To me it is crazy I had to go through all this for a BIOS update... Probably took 25+ minutes, and if this happens to the general public, they WILL need IT support.

That was one of the issues I ran into as well, especially Onedrive is quite a frustrating process.
