I've never seen this before...

I had an HP desktop just last week, one of the "elite" line that has that useless slot for their special backup drives that no one ever buys. His 5-yr-old twin girls (apparently) had filled that slot with little tiny plastic pink & blue "Barbie Beads" - I think that's what he called them. They were scattered everywhere inside the computer, and jammed in the hinges of the door covering the usb ports on the front panel. It was a bit of a mess cleaning up after that.

When I worked at Best Buy, we had a computer come in once that I'll never forget. The computer obviously belonged to a smoker as it was stained from years of smoking, and upon opening the case I was overcome with the odors of stale smoke, inside the case, amongst all the ash, was a full, never used, cigarette. We could never figure out exactly how that got in there.

Had a customer with an All-In-One, thought he had a slot-loading ODD. He kept sticking the disk in between the drive and the case, and couldn't understand why it wouldn't come back out. Took 2 times of taking the machine apart, retrieving his disk, and explaining that you have to hit the little button to make the tray pop out before you put the disk in. To this day, not sure he got it. Hopefully he just stopped using disks...

Yeah...its' weird. How do people get their equipment into such awful states oh health. I think some of the stuff I see, if I didn't know that they made a mistake, you would swear that it was deliberately done...on purpose.

Has anyone ever seen a disc or other weird foreign object stuck inside a case like this?

Yep, twice. Once working for the man and once since I've been self employed.

Clients see the gap between the front 3.5" filler blanks and force the CD between them not realizing that they should open the DVD tray. Some DVD's have a loading slot as opposed to a tray so they get confused.

I should have read the entire thread before I posted. I repeated pretty much what you said!

I work in a school and we always have something odd in our computers, we have had everything from network cables forced into Floppy drives, to paperclips and chewed paper put into power supply fans...
becomes part of the normal clean up after a couple of years!

I never saw anything like that before but I remember working on two desktops. When I opened the case, inside was filled with a bunch of dead cockroaches. Looked liked they all drunk the Jim Jones kool-aid on how they looked lying dead. Such a mess. The other had a dead mouse that was causing a stink odor that the client complained about. The mouse looked like it was fried to death by the power supply. I wish I had pics.

I think you won the GROSSEST CRAP INSIDE OF A COMPUTER award. Ugh!!!

I worked in a service centre for one of the big retail chains a few years ago. Had a PC come in (HP, as I recall) with a dead hard drive. It was filthy, and had a noticeable whiff when it came off the lorry.
The lucky guy who was assigned the job popped the case.....and jumped a mile when two live cockroaches ran out. After five minutes of frantic cockroach killing the case was quickly resealed and the PC wrapped in film for immediate return.
